1974 Porsche 914

Alex Van Brocklin from Oregon, USA took his 1974 Porsche 914 from stock to E-Power in under 4 months as a "side project"

Summary

Alex bought the 914 in need fo work, which took about 4 months to get it to where it is. The time has been spend on the running gear and a few interior upgrades as Alex was working to a budget.

The car uses a Netgain Impulse 9 series would DC motor mated to the stock transaxle and a Porsche 901 5 speed gearbox.

The 2000 amp Z2K controller was previously used in “the White Zombie” a 1972 Datsun that ended up becoming an icon on the drag strips. The White Zombie was the first EV to run a sub 10 second 1/4 mile, which is a pretty quick time!

Alex has 54 Thundersky lithium-Ion LFP90 3.2V cells fitted, managed by an Orion BMS2.

Alecs attempt to keep to a tight budget extend to some ingenious ideas, including a simple, but effective solution to heating, in the way of two folding hairdryers attached to the stock 914 ventilation system under the dashboard.

Alec is still in the process of breaking in the motor, the clutch is slipping ad the system is under constant calibration, but he is confident it will outperform his fathers Ford Fiesta.
